“SOHO CAKE” EDITOR’S PICKS: WE TURNED MEN’S DRESS SHIRTS ON THEIR HEADS
You’re probably wondering what in god’s name is “Soho Cake” Indeed, it was my old fashion blog I had when I was roughly 15/16 years old which I may add did pretty well if I kept continuing the site. Of course, for a series, I needed a funky name to pair and what better way than visiting a positive ghost.
Remember when oversized shirts/pants especially were unheard of even in the early 2000s unless you were rocking a Slurpee skater vibe which not to mention is super cute. Yes, this has been done in many fashion books to date, but I haven’t seen a lot of them paired outside of business casual. It can be sexy in multiple ways if you are a “theme” person that may collect wigs, different makeup and more. Collect pieces that make you think “I have never seen this before” over something that would be distributed millions of times at once in retail currently. Paint, glitter, fabric, you name it, you can flip anything into the next Carrie Bradshaw bag. By the way, “dress shirts” is a broad definition, think of different material as well. If I had to give you any advice, if you see a platform runner at any moment, it will be a calling from the vintage gods. It makes every foot, fashion-forward.
