Though there were no dark starry skies for Frost Moon, the designers lit up the runway with style and performance Toronto hasn’t been exposed to yet. Can we talk about how confident the models looked? They carried the clothing well and we can successfully say gave Rad + Raw some sweet editorial. We couldn’t be more grateful to have attended an event that is so groundbreaking not to mention interviewing one of the designers, Inuk Design beforehand which you can check out the almost-viral article HERE. IDF did not miss a beat. There were clothing for every occasion, body shape, and preference in color/style. Not every single piece catered to fur which is an extremely loud and brave move that anyone, no matter background or choice can enjoy what these new pioneers are working so hard for. Though, I still loved how the theme of honourary patterns and textures were being used to modernize culture. If our headling title doesn’t speak volume to you, could say Indigenous fashion is really the new wave. I wish anyone could experience the feeling of knowing how big of an impact this fashion week made, judging by the few teary eyes in the room, including myself. We know this is a big step in the future of Indigenous peoples and way more influential moments to come, that we cannot wait to be a part of.
